More ergonomic changes

I decided to dump the old desk and mishmash of bookshelf and other stuff in my home office, and bought new stuff at Ikea. Galant desks and Effectiv cabinets for storage. It looks nice.

I like the fact that the Galant desks are height adjustable. The standard 29" or more for a desk, is too high for use with a computer. 27" is about right, as that is the level your elbows sit in a seated position. One thing that is awesome about the Galant desks is the cord management system. It's a little wire net which attaches to the back underside of the desk. It has plenty of places to wrap cords around to hold them in place.

I also bought their computer holders. They attach to the side of the desk in the metal support channels, and in that location they are quite sturdy and solid. Unfortunately the right desk, I didn't feel I wanted to block the hallway by placing the computer to the side, so I thought I'd try the clamp mounts and place it towards the back. That isn't near as solid, and I had to prop something underneath for to hold the computer up.

However, I have an intriguing idea of taking one of the clamps, and a L-bracket I have, mounting it to a small board and then using this all to hold a power supply up along the side of the desk.

I also built monitor stands using 48" Jarpen shelves with 4" Capita legs from the Ikea kitchen department. Pretty good for $20 and the Jarpen shelves are solid and don't flex under the weight of LCD monitors.

The storage units, I'm going with lower file drawers, with another low add on unit with a roller lid, and then the high unit with doors. They had a similar unit on display, with the Jigga handles from the kitchen area and it looked quite sharp. So that's what I'm going with... black brown with silver accents.

I'd considered wall cabinets behind the desks, but I'm still not sure if it will make the room feel cramped or what.
