sbCommunity development starts

A few years ago I started working on a website idea, which was a combination of web forum, event calendar, announcement page and so forth. The idea was kind of a combination between a community website, yahoo groups, and a calendaring system like evite.

Well, the idea started with a local communit social group imnotfromhere.com, and then I used the same software base to handle the informal Minnesota for Clark '04 campaign website. I started out trying to build my own website to handle this, and ended up resorting to using the DotNetNuke framework with a bunch of custom modules. This worked fairly well, except that DNN doesn't work very well for tasks which involve more than one page, or for modules which are connected.

Well, recently .NET 2.0 came out, and after spending some time looking at what they've done with it. The new master pages and the membership provider appear such that it ought to be fun and easy to create this.

So here we go.
